A clamp-on filter is mounted directly onto an intake pipe or throttle body flange with a hose clamp. It is used when the original air filter box is replaced – e.g. in conversions, turbo projects, motorcycles and other engines.
How to choose the size
- Flange diameter: Measure the outside diameter of the pipe the filter will fit onto. This is stated in the product description.
- Length and shape: Check that there is enough space in the engine bay – filters are available in round, conical and oval shapes.
- Angle: Some filters have an angled flange if the pipe is not straight.
If you are looking for a filter that fits directly into the original box, see drop-in filters. Complete intake kits can be found under performance kits.
